Creighton beats Nebraska again, Tim Miles now 0-12 vs. Greg McDermott

All the scary guys in Tim Miles' nightmares must look like Creighton coach Greg McDermott.

Miles watched his Nebraska team lose to Creighton 83-67 Wednesday for the fourth consecutive season. But Miles' history with McDermott goes well beyond that. He is now 0-12 against McDermott at three different schools including an 0-6 mark at Southwest State (when McDermott was at Wayne State), an 0-2 mark at North Dakota State (when McDermott was at Iowa State) and now 0-4 at Nebraska with McDermott at Creighton.

Safe to say expectations weren't high for the Cornhuskers this season after a disappointing 13-18 season a year ago, despite starting the season ranked and with high expectations. Nebraska has a young team and basically traded Terran Petteway, who declared for the draft last spring, for Kansas transfer Andrew White, who scored 28 points in the loss to Creighton. But Shavon Shields scored only six.

Isaiah Zierden scored 17 points for the Bluejays, who haven't lost to Nebraska in Omaha in the regular season since 1995.

Miles' team must learn to finish opponents in some cases and show up for the start of games in other instances. Nebraska has had some opportunities to earn notable victories this season but its best win to date is over Tennessee.

The Cornhuskers lost to Villanova, Cincinnati, Miami and now have another dose of frustration to swallow after watching Creighton get up to a big early lead again and having to fight back all night.

Miles received a contract extension in the offseason and barring disaster he isn't going anywhere any time soon, which means he's going to get another shot at McDermott next season with a more experienced team. For now, it's wait til next year when it comes to bragging rights on the hardwood in the state.
